Parents of East West Campers
I realize that my last update got to you rather late. Apparently there was a problem with my web site and it didn’t get to most of you until you returned home on Thursday. Sorry that I haven’t been able to get to you sooner. We seem to have been going nonstop since the first day. Here is a quick update for tomorrow, Sunday July 20th. If you are planning on coming to watch the best way to get to the field is to find the athletic center parking lot. There is a big P on the sign, turn there and go towards the athletic center. Park near the white tents and walk towards the fields. Turn right when you get to the bubble. Walk over to the second field. Games will start at 9:30 and we will be off the field by 11:15.
I would prefer your daughters walk back with the rest of the group and you will meet them back at the Hamilton Dorm located in the Colonial quad. Weekend parking should not be a problem so you can pull right up to the dorm. Before you take your daughter home their room must be cleaned and an East West staff member will check them out of their room. They are then free to leave.
Camp store will be open during check out!
Check out will start at 11:3
Day campers if you don’t want to come back to the dorm you may leave from the field.
Have safe trip and we will see you tomorrow!

Albany Camp Update
I used Map Quest for 1400 Washington Ave. Albany NY 12222. They had me coming in on I-90 East. I then took exit #2 and went straight across Washington Ave. onto campus. I drove straight from there to the 1st detour sign. Follow the arrow on the sign to the left which will head you towards the tower. Before you get to the next detour sign look for a staff member to direct you to the dorm from there
If you arrive before 12:05 or after 1:45 go to the 2nd detour sign and follow the arrow to the right, then drive to the 3rd detour sign. The arrow says to turn right; you WILL NOT TURN RIGHT, you will take a left onto what looks a side walk. Go over side walk and take the first left (Social Science) and then next right onto Colonial. The Colonial Quad is on your left.
Look for field hockey campers or my East West banner
Good Luck!

Albany Campers:
I will be leaving for the University at Albany campus tomorrow morning. If I am able to e-mail you more detailed and easier directions to the dorm (Herkimer Hall) I will do so. Please try and check your e-mails before you leave for camp in the morning.
Dorm update: I have asked for more lights to be placed in the rooms, but just in case if you read at night you probably will want to bring a lamp. I would also plan on the rooms being a bit warm, bring a fan if you can.
Registration will begin at 12:15 for overnight campers and 1:15 for day campers. The staff will not be out on the roads until 12:05 so if you get onto campus before that time you will not see us.
There is one camper who has asked about driving herself to camp and I have discouraged her because of the parking situation at Albany. Parking at the College is a nightmare and I can’t be responsible for parking tickets. U Albany Parking Office (518) 442-3121.
Have a safe trip and we will see you on the 17th.

To East West Campers and parents of campers attending the East West Field Hockey Camp at Albany, July 17th – 20th.
The start of camp is just about one week away and the information that follows will answer questions you will have or have had regarding camp. Information provided on the web site along with e-mails you will get from me prior to camp should answer all your questions. Please read this information carefully and if by chance you delete this e-mail I will have it saved on the home page under Albany Camp Information, e-mails sent. If there is something that is missing or needs clarification pleases contact me.
PAYMENT information: This is a generic announcement please do not panic!!
If there is a $20 balance due on your account, that is because you initially registered and paid for the team discount, but the minimum of 10 campers, from the same school, was not met. If there is a $25 balance due that is because the full payment was not postmarked by May 15th (late payment fee) or you registered and paid after May 15th (late registration fee) If there is more than a $25 balance you currently do not have a spot guaranteed at camp. If you have a balance due you must contact me prior to camp to make payment arrangements. All payments must be in the form of certified/bank check or cash. I will not accept personal checks.
All payment issues/questions can be answered by looking at your individual registration page. To get to the registration page log into your account off the home page and you must use the e-mail address you used when first registering. If you are unable to get to your registration page it is because you are using the incorrect e-mail address. The password is the one that was created by the person doing the registering. If you forgot the password follow the directions to obtain a new password. It will take a few minutes and the new password will be e-mailed to the campers e-mail address automatically.
Where and when to Check in for Camp:
The School is the University at Albany and the area the dorm is located in is called Colonial Quad (across the lawn from last years dorm) the name of the dorm is Herkimer Hall. When you get near the dorm please look for staff with hockey sticks and they will be able to direct you to the dorm. There is a great deal of construction on campus so when I get to campus the day before camp I will update you on the best way to Herkimer Hall, if there is one.
Check In:
Overnight campers, check in will start will start at 12:15 and day campers check in will begin at 1:15. We will be leaving for the field at 2:00 pm.
Day Campers: During check in I will go over pick up and drop of options for you then.
BEFORE you check in:
Eat lunch or bring lunch. The first meal served is dinner.
The field and proper equipment/ footwear:
It is a turf field, cross trainer/turf shoes are the best shoes, in my opinion and long cleats are the worst, no cleats. Running shoes are ok, but they lack the lateral support. Bring what you have and see which works best for you. If you are intending to participate in the optional morning run, bring running shoes. Remember, new shoes = blisters!
No goggles are required at camp!!!
Camp store:
I will have sticks and other items from Penn Monto. www.penn-monto.com If you would like something please let me know before camp starts
Money: If you want something from the camps store they will take cash and personal checks. If you want to by food to be delivered at night bring $.
Bill
PS in addition to the packing list on the web site:
Goalies you must bring your own equipment. If it is at school you have one week to get it.
The dorms are fairly dark and if you can bring a small light with you that might be helpful. There are lights in the rooms, but not good for reading.
There is an optional run in the morning. If you would like to participate in the run, bring an alarm clock.
